HEAD COACH - Cody Johnston

Coach Johnston joins PHS for the 2024-2025 season, bringing a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success. Previously, he served as the Head Coach for Men’s, Women’s, and Middle School wrestling at Rockwall High School in Rockwall, TX. Over his five years at Rockwall, Coach Johnston helped develop multiple state champions, state placers, and All-Americans. His coaching expertise played a pivotal role in helping over 25 athletes advance to the collegiate level. Under his leadership, the Rockwall program achieved its first-ever Women's State Champion, the highest Women's State Team finish, and the highest Men's State Dual Team finish (2nd place in the 2023-2024 season), and 5 consecutive Men's District Championships. Additionally, his teams secured multiple Middle School state championships while at the helm. Prior to his time at Rockwall, Coach Johnston served as an assistant Coach and contributed to the Frisco Centennial Titans’ second-place finish at Texas UIL State. His success has earned him multiple Texas State and District Coach of the Year honors.
A former student-athlete at the University of Missouri, Coach Johnston started three of his five years on the team. He was a two-time MAC Conference place-winner and competed on teams that consistently ranked in the top 5 nationally. Coach Johnston holds both his Undergraduate and Graduate degrees in Education from Mizzou. As a high school wrestler, he was nationally ranked in the top 5 and earned several High School All-American honors.

ASSISTANT COACH - ROBB WATERS

Coach Waters comes began coaching at South during the 24-25 season. Coach Waters brings a wealth of wrestling knowledge and coaching experience. Previously Coach Waters has assisted with running a Purler Wrestling Academy (PWA) location. Prior to this he competed for the Baker University Wildcats and Park Hill High School. While at Park Hill High School, Coach Waters was a part of multiple State Championship teams and was a multiple time state place winner.
ASSISTANT COACH - Tucker Lane MacWilliam
Coach MacWilliam has been with South Wrestling since the 2023-2024 season. Since being at South, coach has helped multiple wrestlers earn all state honors. Coach Mac wrestled for perennial powerhouse Oak Grove High School. During his time there he was a multiple time state place winner and apart of State Championship teams. Coach is now a professional bull fighter, ranked highly in the world at his craft.

ASSISTANT COACH - Bryce Dennis

Coach Dennis has been with with South since the 2021-2022 Season. He also served as an assistant coach at Winnetonka High School for 7 years. Coach Dennis focuses on our developmental level with our program and has helped multiple athletes achieve success. Coach Dennis was a college track athlete at St. Cloud State. Coach Dennis currently serves as a Chemistry Teacher at Park Hill South.
ASSISTANT COACH - Mitchell Kennedy

Coach Kennedy is in his first season at Park Hill South. Coach Kennedy wrestled for Park Hill High School and was a part of multiple state championship wrestling teams. Coach was a multiple time state place winner. Coach Kennedy is an integral part of our programs here at Park Hill South.
RTC FREESTYLE COACH - Dane Espinosa

Coach Espinosa brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our program. Coach Espinosa was a 4-time state medalist, two-time finalist, and a state champion for Neosho High School from ’02-’06. Coach went on to compete at the University of Missouri. After his collegiate career, coach went back to help Neosho's team capture multiple team and individual state wrestling championships. Coach resides in the South district and his son competes for the Panthers.
RTC YOUTH COACH - Jimmy Carpenter

Coach Carpenter is a Panther alumni, four-year starter, Coach qualified for the state tournament all four seasons. During that time was a two-time district champion and placed fourth at state in 2013. In 2011 he earned Fargo All-American honors. While in college, Coach Carpenter was an NJCAA - College All-American. Coach has over 20 years of experience between competing and coaching.
